3 dermal filler benefits

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in our eyes, joints and skin. However, as we age these molecules begin to diminish leaving our skin dehydrated and lacking in volume. Hyaluronic acid gels re-instate hydration, and volume, giving the appearance of smoother skin surface and has the ability to contour facial anatomy such as cheeks, lips, chins, and jawlines!
Hyaluronic acid filler gels are injected into the appropriate layers of the facial anatomy for hydration, volumizing, and facial contouring.
Dermal filler treatments should be administered by a qualified healthcare professional with appropriate knowledge and skill to consult, treat, and respond to complications- should they arise. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring product in the body but artificially injecting products carries its own risks (and benefits), which should be discussed as part of the consultation.
Dermal filler treatments should not be painful. Strong topical numbing creams are applied (as standard) prior to injecting and the syringes have lidocaine infused to further minimise discomfort or pain.
The total appointment time depends on the complexity of the treatment itself, which should be discussed during the initial consultation.
Longevity of results last can vary from person to person. Typically, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can last between 6-18 months depending on rheology of the product injected. (The choice of products used are not permanent and can be electively dissolved, subject to suitability.)
Most patients require one treatment to achieve desired results and will be encouraged to have a complimentary follow up appointment afterwards. For more complex procedures it may require multiple treatments but this will be discussed during the consultation.
The most common side effects include:
-Tenderness
-Swelling
-Bruising
(These side effects generally go within a few days)
Less frequent side effects include:
-Severe swelling
-Delayed onset of nodules (lumps)
-Infection
-Allergic reaction
-Vascular occlusion
Hyaluronic acid based fillers are fully reversible from the time they are administered until the time they are reabsorbed by the body overtime. Elective dissolving is provided for patients who have had dermal fillers in the past but are dissatisfied with the overall result. (Please see corrections tab for more information.)
