3 Benefits Of
Micro-needling
What are the main differences between micro-needling with a pen and a roller and why is a pen
so much better?
Micro-needling therapy encourages the body to create a wound healing response and starts a
cascade of beneficial reactions including skin cell renewal activating the production of collagen
and elastin. In order for this to happen the deeper layers of the skin (dermis) must be gently
punctured, causing mild trauma. The skin has different thicknesses over the face; therefore, in
order to micro-needle the dermis at the correct depth the needle depth has to be adjustable.
This is simply not possible with a roller so you will have a few things happen. The roller depth isn't
adjustable therefore the needle will not puncture the dermis at the correct depth which can be
too shallow and miss the deeper dermal layers; or can be too deep and gouge the dermis
causing actual damage to the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. The aim of micro-
needling is to trick the skin into thinking it has been damaged, not to actually damage it! Not to
mention the blunting of the edges and bacteria growth from a single use!
The pen is an excellent device with all the significant advantages of micro-needling but none of
the disadvantages of using a roller. A pen needle depth is adjustable so the correct depth of
therapy can always be achieved. The needle enters and leaves the skin in a vertical motion
causing minimal damage to the epidermal, and dermal, layers of the skin. Benefits can be seen
immediately but the long-term benefits occur weeks to months after the first treatment once the
new skin cells rise to the surface (renewed skin cell cycle). Additionally, for long-term benefits to
be achieved its vital the dermis is effected during treatment and a steady course is maintained
for best ongoing results.
Dermaroller vs pen

Please allow 1 hour appointment time.
The skin is cleansed using an antimicrobial solution, followed by an application of hyaluronic acid serum, and tiny micro-needles will be passed over the skin penetrating at different depths to achieve youthful and glowing skin.
This procedure involves minimal discomfort but should not be painful. Strong numbing creams can be applied prior to treatment, upon request

-Stretch marks
-Skin pigmentation
-General lack of skin radiance and firmness
Your skin will have mild pin point bleeding with reddening, similar to the appearance of mild sunburn. The skin surface may feel tight and become mildly sensitive but this will improve within a few days following treatment.
Results will begin to show around 3-7 days following treatment and continue to improve through ongoing tissue remodelling in the dermal skin layers. (For best results, it is recommended for monthly maintenance to encourage skin remodelling momentum.)
Depending on the initial skin condition and anticipated result skin needling procedures can be repeated every 4-6 weeks. A course of 3-6 sessions is recommended for optimal results.
Micro-needling works by triggering a healing response in your own skin so is safe for all skin types and ethnicity.
